Hi friends, welcome to Love Straight Talks. For the next couple of weeks, I’ll be writing on a very important, sensitive and yet controversial topic: “ten reasons why you should not have pre-marital sex.” Through this period, I will want to reason with you intelligently using real-life situations the rationale for that instruction of “no sex before marriage” and why it is totally for our own good to follow it.
The first reason why God doesn’t want us to have premarital sex is that sex is a spiritual mystery. It has spiritual implications. Most of us, however, are not prepared for the spiritual consequences that may come with having sex with someone. We just want pleasure.
God wants your spirit united with just the person you’ll spend the rest of your life with- your destiny partner.
On the negative side, you can contact a negative spiritual atmosphere in the life of a sexual partner simply by the act.
There have been many arguments in the body of Christ on whether sex has any spiritual implications or not. Some people have preached that through sex, you contact the spiritual atmosphere on the life of your partner. Many have judged this notion to be a mere concoction. On my part, I think there is a scripture that suggests that there are spiritual dimensions to sex.
I invite you to consider this scripture.
“Now the body is not for fornication, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body…Know ye not that your bodies are the members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ, and make them the members of a harlot? God forbid. What? Know ye not that he which is joined to a harlot is one body? for two saith he shall be one flesh. But he that is joined unto the Lord is one Spirit.” (1 Corinthians 6:16&17)
There’s more to sex than mere skin on skin. Sex is as much spiritual mystery as physical fact. As written in Scripture, “The two become one.” Since we want to become spiritually one with the Master, we must not pursue the kind of sex that avoids commitment and intimacy, leaving us more lonely than ever—the kind of sex that can never “become one.” (1 Corinthians 6:16&17 MSG)
So is sex spiritual or is it just a physical act? The bible here equates the act of sleeping with a woman with the spiritual hybrid entity that emerges upon the marriage of a man and a woman: “the two shall become one flesh”.
The becoming of one flesh of a couple is certainly not a physical phenomenon? At no time does any couple become one physical body. If you argue that the meaning of this verse is that they are one flesh anytime they have sex, it would mean every other time a couple isn’t having sex, they aren’t one flesh.
This will contradict this bible passage : “therefore shall a man leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife and they twain shall become one flesh, and they are no more two but one.” Genesis 2:24. At all times after their marriage, they are no more two. That’s what the bible is saying.
Therefore, becoming one flesh is a spiritual phenomenon. It is a new spiritual recognition that heaven accords a couple upon their marriage. Why none of them can make a withdrawal from their heavenly account without the signature of the other. 1 Peter 3:7. There could, therefore, be spiritual implications in becoming one flesh with anyone via sex.
Since God never intended that unmarried people will have sex, having sex with someone you’re not married to is a false notice to God saying, “we are no more two but one.” Being no more two with someone is not a surface reality at all. It has deep spiritual implications. Let me show a scriptural authority to buttress this from the marriage of Isaac and Rebekah.
The covenant upon the life of Isaac that would determine his destiny was the Abrahamic covenant which reads, “That in blessing I will bless thee, and in multiplying I will multiply thy seed as the stars of the heaven, and as the sand which is upon the sea shore; and thy seed shall possess the gate of his enemies…”
Genesis 22:17 KJV
Do you know that when Rebekah agreed to marry Isaac and her parents opened their mouths to bless her, unknown to them the covenant that was upon the life of Isaac, the prayer that came out of their mouth was the same words as the Abrahamic covenant which Isaac carried.
“And they blessed Rebekah, and said unto her, Thou art our sister, be thou the mother of thousands of millions, and let thy seed possess the gate of those which hate them.”
Genesis 24:60 KJV
This establishes that when a woman says yes to a man in marriage, immediately, the prophetic destiny on the man’s life is invoked upon the woman in the spirit realm. They become no more two beyond the physical in every respect.
If this is so for just saying yes to a man in marriage, how much more sex which is the most sacred spiritual symbol of, “they are no more two but one.” It is difficult to accept that this is but a mere physical act without spiritual implications.
Then let’s consider the dark world which is also a spiritual world. Why are there so many consummation of covenants through sex? Yahoo boys and other ritualists today have to sometimes sleep with a virgin or even non-virgins and get some droplets emanating from the sexual affair to consummate certain covenants.
Whenever you see a very dirty, disgusting mad woman on the street get pregnant, you know it wasn’t just about an uncontrollable libido of a man. Most are spiritual requirements. And that happens all the time.
Just as the message version puts it, “there is more to sex than mere skin on skin.” Sex is a spiritual mystery.
Now, this is where the danger is. You don’t always know the spiritual atmosphere or history of the person you’re trying to have premarital sex with. Ask young girls who were victims of Yahoo sacrifices. Men have been victims of such manipulations too in the past.
By the way, it is not everyone who dresses up walking on the street that is a normal human being. Some are ‘Jezebels’, direct messengers from the kingdom of darkness. You can read up on Jezebel in the bible. She was occult- a witch. 2 Kings 9:22.
On one occasion when Jehu, a military commander invaded Jezebel’s compound to execute the judgment of God on her, she immediately reached out for her make-up kit in defense. (2 Kings 9:30-32). No normal human being responds to a military invasion of a known enemy that way.
Those were not ordinary make-ups. They were satanic instruments.
My Pastor once shared the story of a lady he said lived in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria; someone he knew personally. She had met a man who had shown her extreme generosity continuously for a period of time and pretended for a long time to have no ulterior motives until the lady dropped her guards.
So they started going out and thereafter they slept with each other. It was only once. Suddenly her stomach began to swell. She went for a test and it was found she wasn’t pregnant. Meanwhile, her stomach continued to swell. It was later found out that the man who slept with her was occult and anytime he needed to renew the covenant in his group, he was required to sleep with someone. Anyone he slept with would die in that same manner.
The man thereafter normally disappears from whatever city he did that evil never to return. The lady in question fought hard but didn’t survive the onslaught of darkness.
Certainly, the lady was unlucky. Many of us have done worst things continuously without getting our fingers burnt this way. And I hope you do not discredit the story as a fairy tale based on the “IN CHRIST REALITIES”? Do you realize that there is no fornication in Christ?
And we don’t have the full story, maybe the Holy Spirit warned this lady repeatedly to no avail. A Christian who goes on sinning WILLFULLY can open himself up to spiritual attack haven trampled underfoot the spirit of grace. Hebrews 10:26-29, 1 John 5:18.
The truth is a Christian who continues in sin willfully is not different from an unbeliever. Whatever attack an unbeliever can suffer, he can suffer the same. There is enough proof in the bible to establish this.
Brothers and Sisters, we need genital discipline. Like Paul, we need to learn, through grace that the Lord ministers, to put our body under lest we make ourselves vulnerable to the devil who doesn’t like us the slightest bit.
I hope this instructs you?
The Lord is able to help us. We’ll continue next week.
God bless you.
All my love.
Your Brother,
Peniela Akintujoye
